تتطور رياضة السباحة في مصر بوجود الاتحاد المصري للسباحة منذ عام 1907، وهو الجهة الرسمية المسؤولة عن تنظيم الرياضات المائية المختلفة، بالإضافة إلى تواجد نخبة من الأكاديميات والمراكز المتخصصة التي تقدم التدريب وتعمل على اكتشاف المواهب، وهناك أيضاً العديد من الأماكن العامة مثل النوادي والمجمعات الرياضية التي تتيح ممارسة السباحة للمختلف الأعمار، مثل مجمع حمامات السباحة باستاد القاهرة

Swimming Sports In Egypt

Swimming is a popular sport in Egypt, with a rich history dating back to ancient times. The sport is governed by the Egyptian Swimming Federation (ESF), which oversees five aquatic disciplines: swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and open water swimming. The ESF is the oldest regional swimming organization, founded in 1907.

Major swimming events

Egypt regularly hosts and participates in major swimming competitions. Notably, it has become a favored location for the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup, hosting the event in Somabay for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025). The most recent edition in February 2025 saw record participation with 129 elite swimmers and 16 relay teams from all continents.

Capri–Napoli Marathon Swim: In June 2025, the Egyptian national open water swimming delegation won first place and set a new record time.
100x50 Freestyle Relay World Record: A team of Egyptian swimmers broke the Guinness World Record in the 100x50 meter freestyle relay in July 2021, finishing in 42 minutes and 12.15 seconds.
African Championships: Egypt was crowned champion of the 13th CANA Swimming & Open Water Championships in 2018, securing 44 medals (27 gold, 14 silver, and 3 bronze). They also won the African Swimming Championship Cup in Angola in May 2024, with 47 medals (15 gold, 19 silver, and 13 bronze).
Individual Honors: Swimmers like Marwan al-Kammash, Ali Khalafallah, Abdel Rahman Sameh, Farida Osman, and Hania Moro have consistently won multiple medals at these championships. Youssef Ramadan is an African record holder in short course relays and a World Short Course Championship finalist.
